Alpha House
Introducing Alpha House:
Alpha House (Calderdale) is a registered charity working towards setting up a residential provision in Calderdale to support men who want to lead drug free and constructive lifestyles. Potential residents are likely to be aged over 25 and those being released drug free from prison or a detox programme. Although trustees and our project development manager are all Christians, the only commitment required of potential residents is their desire to stay drug free.
We are hoping to secure a property in Calderdale which will offer 24/7 supervision and will employ trained staff and volunteers. Residents will be encouraged to develop life skills and their employment potential.
A suitable property has been identified, for which partial funding has been secured from Calderdale Council and grant making bodies. Additionally, we have the support of local Courts, Health, Probation and Drug and Alcohol Services.
At this crucial stage in the development of this project, we are bringing our needs before Churches Together. They are as follows:
- additional capital funding for the purchase of the property
- extra trustees with a heart for the work that Alpha House will undertake (particular skills would be an added bonus, such as IT, financial, legal, administration)
- potential volunteers for when the project is up and running
- prayer for all aspects of Alpha House
